One new church a day for 2011
Monday, January 9, 2012 at 8:45AM Last week the Washington Post posted a story in their Faith and Politics Section highlighting the multiplication efforts of the Assemblies of God in the US. The story was taken from the National Office’s news service. In the article Dr. Wood states that one of the strategic values of the national office is to “vigorously plant new churches” further stating that their goal was “to plant a church a day in 2011” and exceeded that goal by 3 churches. As our fellowship moves forward in 2012 and beyond Dr. Wood has set a goal of 400 new US churches and perhaps 500 annually.
At the same time the national office has reported fewer closed churches as well. Last year our fellowship reported 230 churches closed nationally. This gives us a gain of 138 churches across the nation.
In Minnesota your efforts and our partnership with the Church Multiplication Network gave us a total of 12 new churches in 2011. As we continue to hear testimonies of what God is doing through our church plants we are reminded that He is still in the business of changing lives. As we look ahead to 2012 we are excited to see that a number of you have caught the vision of multiplying your congregations. If there is anything that we can do to help you move forward in your multiplication efforts please let us know
