Urban 2017

In September 2017 we want to launch 30+ churches on the same day in our largest urban areas: Minneapolis and St Paul.

The estimated population of the cities of Minneapolis and St Paul was 704,847 in 2014. Although there were 39 Assemblies of God churches within the city limits of Minneapolis and St Paul in July 2015, the presence of the church needs to increase. We have joined with Urban Islands Project and CityReach Network to increase the presence of the church in Minneapolis and St Paul. Additionally, we are networking with other evangelical denominations to increase their church planting efforts.

Our partners:

Urban Islands Project - All churches launching in Minneapolis and St Paul in September 2017 have the opportunity to be a part of a church planting cohort. The Urban Islands Project Minneapolis/St Paul Cohort will provide relationships, resources, coaching and create a peer learning environment for the planters participating. Being part of the Urban Islands Project cohort is not a requirement for our Urban 2017 projects. Rather, it is a valuable resource being offered to them.

CityReach Network - CityReach Network is a church planting organization with a vision to aggressively reach cities with the hope of Jesus. They have a proven method of church planting and will use that to plant ten Assembly of God churches in our urban areas.

The Urban Network Coalition consists of ten evangelical denominations and church planting networks who meet together monthly to pray for the current ministries and the needed ministries in our cities.
